One Room Challenge - Week 2

Thursday, October 7, 2021

It's design plan reveal day!  I'm going to show you how I plan to take this small guest room with en suite and make it both beautiful and functional for our guests.  Keep in mind that this bedroom is small, it has two walls of windows and four doors!  Yes, that's four doors!  There are two glass french doors that open into the space, one door that goes into the bathroom, and one door that leads to the closet.

To do list:

  • New Bedding

  • Steam Curtains

  • Add Curtain Trim

  • New Curtain rods

  • Nightstands

  • Lamps

  • Reupholster cube ottomans

  • Desk/console table

  • Wallpaper bathroom

  • Install new vanity

  • Install new bath hardware

You can check out all of the participants here.

One Room Challenge - Week 1

Sunday, October 3, 2021

I'm so excited to be a guest participant again in the One Room Challenge by Better Homes and Gardens.  You may recall that I participated in the Spring One Room Challenge and updated our primary bedroom. It is now a restful and relaxing Coastal Grandmillennial Primary Bedroom.

Let's take a look at how the Coastal Grandmillennial Primary Bedroom finished.

2021 Home Goals

Wednesday, January 27, 2021

We accomplished a lot in our home in 2020! It's amazing how much you can get done when you are staying safe at home. I couldn't let January pass by without reflecting on last year.

Screen Porch

  • Added pony walls and a shiplap faux fireplace with TV to the screen porch
  • Painted the entire porch
  • Poured a concrete patio for the grill and fire pit
  • Added new shrubs and landscape rock to the back yard

Master Bedroom

  • Completed our Coastal Grandmillennial Master Bedroom makeover complete with wallpaper and board and batten. This was a big DIY project that we completed in six weeks as part of the One Room Challenge.

Join the Coastal Grandmillennial Decorating Group on Facebook

Kitchen

  • Replaced all the hardware on the kitchen cabinets

Foyer

  • Installed closets in the front foyer. Can you believe that this house didn't have a coat closet? I'm sure you are thinking, "Well, you have a mudroom." Our mudroom is tiny! This is just a sneak peek of the foyer as it is still a work in progress. The dog den doors still need to be built and a new light will be installed.

Bonus Room

  • Added a wall and pocket door to the loft to turn it into a bonus room. The main point of this was to help reduce the noise. Boys are LOUD when they play video games. This room still needs window treatments and more zhuzhing, but the boys love this space and there is oftentimes 6-8 boys hanging out in here.

Our Home Goals for 2021

  • Convert the dining room into a home office.
  • Convert the office into a guest bedroom.
  • Replace the light fixture in the foyer and finish the dog den built-in.
  • Add board and batten in the foyer and possibly wallpaper.
  • Design and install a hood for the kitchen.
  • Add board and batten plus wallpaper in the downstairs bathroom, new vanity, light fixture, and hardware.

Personal Happenings in 2020 - Robin Warzywak Interior Designs

This one is at the top of my list. I re-opened my services for interior decorating in Wake Forest, North Carolina. If you are looking for an interior design refresh in Wake Forest, Raleigh, or anywhere in the Triangle, please reach out to me. I also offer e-Design services for those of you that are not local.

Another major happening of 2020, that was not so positive, was saying goodbye to our dearest Tucker. He lived to be 15 and a half years old and had a great life. We still miss him dearly.

Thank you for following along on my journey!  I'd love to help you put the finishing touches on your home.

Coastal Master Bedroom Update - Week 5

Sunday, November 8, 2020

I have a confession, I had been delaying this post because something in the room just seemed "off."  I think I finally figured out what it was.

Coastal Master Bedroom Update - Week 4

Thursday, October 29, 2020

I feel like this room makeover has taken for-ev-er!  Maybe that's because we are completing it in real-time and not seeing a whole room finished in one hour like it does on HGTV. Our semi-custom curtains arrived and we are thrilled with the quality.

Coastal Master Bedroom - Week 3 Update

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

This is going to be a really brief post. I am behind on my updates because Lucas turned 10 last week! We celebrated his birthday with his neighborhood buddies having a sleepover (it actually became a sleep under) then on Tuesday with a soccer game followed by lobster pasta and Nothing Bundt Cakes with Grandma. Wednesday morning at 6am Lucas had 9 teeth pulled!  He was such a champ! Then Nana and Papa came to celebrate with the birthday boy Thursday evening.  He said it was the best birthday ever, even with getting teeth pulled. He's the sweetest kid.

I spent most of the weekend sewing these custom pillows. I think it took me 4 hours to make this bolster pillow.

Coastal Master Bedroom - Week 2 Update

Sunday, October 4, 2020

We are on Week Four now of the Coastal Master Bedroom update. We are so close to being done that I can already see it.

Week Two we installed and painted the board and batten.  We used Young House Love's method if you want to follow their steps.

Blue Palm Wallpaper

Monday, September 21, 2020

We finished installing the board and batten, and the NextWall wallpaper in our master bedroom this weekend. It's so good! Here's a sneak peek.

Our Bedroom Makeover is Underway

Thursday, September 10, 2020

Our Master Bedroom Makeover is officially underway! This is the wallpaper choice that we decided on and one of the original design boards.

My handsome hubby stumbled across one of these dressers at our local HomeGoods. But there was only one.
