Home Office and Craft Room and Guest Room

Monday, February 23, 2015

Thank you for sticking with me after my whining complaining about bathroom lighting.  Since we can't find lights that we love within our budget we are going to get the room painted, hang new mirrors, hardware and cornice.  But first we (Nick) have to fill the nail holes and caulk the molding.

I took advantage of the warmer weather this weekend and worked on some spray painting projects.  My creative design juices have been on over drive as of late and I am bouncing around ideas all over the place!  I got cracking of sprucing up my home office aka craft room aka second guest bedroom.  I didn't want to spend a ton as I don't work from home typically and I don't know how long this will get to stay my girly room since our two boys currently share a bedroom.  I threw together a bunch of stuff that we already head and am making over some finds in order to give the room a cohesive look. Hopefully I will have a real sneak peek for you in the next couple of days.

Do you have a multi purpose room in your house?  Do you have a girly space of your own or a man cave?

Lisa @ Shine Your Light has a great cornice board tutorial.  I am hoping to use her advise for hanging the new cornice in our bathroom.

Come by and check it out!

Bathroom Lighting Woes

Saturday, February 21, 2015

Are you all tired of the "Blizzard of 2015?"  We got 1 inch of snow and 1/4 inch of ice in Raleigh and school was closed ALL WEEK!  My whole family is ready to pull their hair out.  Now that the weekend is officially here and our new bathroom lights arrived, I was hoping that we could get the majority of the bathroom redo finished. And that my new bath would look like this:

Yeah right!  I don't have that kind of reno budget but a girl can dream.

I opened the light boxes and they are gorgeous!  I paid close attention to the wattage when ordering the lights and these take 3-65 watt bulbs.  Not bad. But, they are chandelier bulbs which put out less lumens.  Womp womp.  So now we are back to the drawing board.

I am considering these, but am not sure about the shades.

This light would be perfect for the boys bathroom.

I love this look! But it wood involve an electrician and cutting the mirror.

This look would allow us to use the new mirrors, but still involves an electrician.

I can't find affordable (under $200 each), beautiful, bright light, 3 bulb chrome lights anywhere! Extra points for chrome or crystal accents. No fabric shades.

We struck out at Lowes, Home Depot, Joss & Main, Overstock, and Lamps Plus.  But maybe we missed something.  Any suggestions?
